HoLEP (Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate)

The gold-standard laser treatment for enlarged prostates of any size. Highly effective with durable, long-term results and low re-treatment rates. Suitable for men with large prostates or urinary retention.

Ejaculatory-Sparing HoLEP

A modified HoLEP technique designed to preserve antegrade ejaculation while delivering the durable symptom relief of standard HoLEP. Particularly suited to younger men and those for whom preserving sexual function is a priority.

Rezūm (Water Vapour Therapy)

A minimally invasive, day-case treatment using steam to shrink the prostate. Preserves sexual function and is effective for prostates with median lobe involvement.

Laser Bladder Neck Incision

A precise day-case laser procedure to relieve obstruction caused by a tight bladder neck. Suitable for men with smaller prostates or primary bladder neck obstruction; preserves sexual function in most cases.

TURP (Transurethral Resection of the Prostate)

The established surgical gold standard for BPH. Effective for moderate-to-large prostates where laser surgery is not indicated.

Greenlight Laser Prostatectomy

A laser vaporisation procedure suitable for men on blood-thinning medication. Lower bleeding risk than TURP.

Prostatic Artery Embolisation (PAE)

A non-surgical, image-guided procedure performed by an interventional radiologist that shrinks the prostate by reducing its blood supply. Available as part of NHS Fife's comprehensive BPH service.
